Blog Tour: Racing the Sun by Karina Halle - Review + Giveaway!

When I’m traveling, I feel like the secret to my life, to myself, to really becoming, is one step ahead. It’s in the next destination, the next town I get lost in, the next stranger I talk to. It’s always next but never here . . .

After six months of backpacking and soul-searching across the world, Amber MacLean is flat broke. There are worse places for a twentysomething to be stuck than the Amalfi Coast, but the only way she can earn enough money for a plane ticket home to California is to teach English to two of the brattiest children she has ever met.

It doesn’t help that the children are under the care of their brooding older brother, ex-motorcycle racer Desiderio Larosa. Darkly handsome and oh-so-mysterious, the young master of the crumbling villa tests Amber’s patience and will at every turn—not to mention her hormones.

When her position turns into a full-time nanny gig, Amber grows dangerously closer to the enigmatic recluse. But can she give up the certainty of home for someone whose closely guarded heart feels a world apart from her own?

I have read some books by Karina, including Love, in English, Love, In Spanish, The Pact and The Offer. I have been enchanted by all of her books that I have read because of her vivid imagery and amazing scenery.

Amber was a woman who didn’t know what she wanted in life. She traveled all over the world, not knowing what she wanted after she was finished. She was a little lost until she met Desiderio in Capri and becomes the nanny of two grieving twins. She really found herself there and I liked seeing her blossom. She was a total sweetheart who really liked helping people.

Desiderio was tall, dark and handsome. He was grieving, having found himself guardian of his two young siblings. He did not know how to care for himself, let alone his siblings, after the death of his parents. His grief was palpable. Amber helped him open up and let his wounds heal.

The scenery in this book is wicked insane and I am so jealous that Karina actually got to travel to all the places in her book. Racing the Sun makes me want to visit southern Italy. Her books always do this to me. Make me inflicted with wanderlust!

Review: Taming Lily by Monica Murphy

I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head on, I’ve run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch me—not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family’s cosmetics company. Now I’m in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and the sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I’m loving every minute of it.

But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. And soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.

Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s who I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the risk—and what-ifs be damned. . . .

Monica Murphy is amazing. I have followed and adored her since One Week Girlfriend came out. Her writing is captivating!

Lily was so different than she was portrayed in the first two books. I thought she was a vapid girl who partied all the time and didn’t care about anything important. But she completely proved me wrong in this book. She was really smart and really cared about her family’s business. She had a heart of gold.

Max was superrrr mysterious and sexy. I liked how he became vulnerable around Lily and let his inner self show. He was not a good guy at first but then he changed for the better. I liked how he helped Lily with the struggle against the crazy person trying to take over Fleur Cosmetics.

Their chemistry was off the wall right from when they met and it just grew and grew. I was sad to see this series end but it ended perfectly. I cannot wait for whatever Monica has in store for her following!

I was so happy reading the first book in this series but when I read the synopsis, I got worried. Creepy cousin? Not good.

Reese grew so much in this book. She matured and learned to be confident in herself, despite her own-perceived shortcomings. She is really just the nicest girl ever, and she never has mean things to say, even when she should probably say something.

Mase is my sexy cowboy! In this installment, he was a little bone-headed about certain things,  but he definitely learned in the end to always have Reese’s back over every single person. He gives Reese all the attention she deserves and protects her always.

A character I liked immensely was Captain. His book will be really good because he is a sweetheart. The romance is steaming of course. It’s Abbi Glines! The love they share is so real and I feel it, and all other readers will as well.

My only question is, WHEN IS NAN’S BOOK?!
