Review: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy.

While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?
This series is hands-down my favorite fantasy series ever. The clever world-building, the dynamic characters, and the fantastic relationships are the greatest I've ever read about.

Celaena is such a total badass. She went through some harrowing times in Crown of Midnight which made her question everything about herself and her self-worth. She is so hard on herself and blames herself for things completely outside of her power. Her character development was monumental in this book and I loved to see it. Celaena inspires me.

Chaol and Dorian had some trouble in their friendship, mostly because they did not trust one another. Chaol was working behind Dorian’s back because he thought it would protect him the most but it ended up hurting him. But Chaol knows what he is doing so I trust him 1000%. I just wish we got to see more of him. Dorian learned a lot about his magic and I loved him so much!!!! He shall be a wonderful king someday.

Rowan, a new character that was introduced, just happens to be my all time favoriteeeee so far! He helped Celaena recover from the astounding amount of trauma she has gone through and I think it also helped him heal from his many wounds. I know they are completely platonic, but part of me wishes that their may come a romantic relationship from their friendship. ;)

The writing is impeccable and the plot is so exciting. I loved that we got to see so many different POV’s especially some new ones – Manon, Rowan and Sorscha. Such great additions.

Book 4 doesn’t even have a title yet! I cannot wait for it and I hope for a Chaol/Celaena reunion pretty quickly.

Blog Tour: You Were Mine by Abbi Glines - Review!

Eight years ago, Tripp Newark was dating a rich girl he didn’t like and was on his way to Yale—and a future he didn’t want. The only way he could escape his predictable life would be to give up the money and power that came with his family’s name. And that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the summer, he was going to ride off on his Harley and never look back.

That was before he met Beth Lowry.

It was only supposed to be a summer fling. She was a sixteen-year-old trailer-park girl who served drinks to his friends at Kerrington Country Club. They didn’t run in the same social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one summer, Bethy became his entire world.

But he couldn’t give up on his plan. He needed to leave Rosemary Beach, but he vowed he would come back for her.

Problem was, by the time he came back—years later than promised—it was too late. His cousin, Jace, had already claimed the woman he loved. . . .

After the shocker Abbi dropped on us in Twisted Perfection, I knew I needed Bethy and Tripp’s book right away!

Poor poor Bethy. She suffered something horrible, something that no one should ever have to go through. I hated what happened to Jace, as well as Bethy’s role in it. I could understand why she was so broken after. She needed someone to put her back together. The change in her was absolutely astounding and heart-warming.

Tripp never wanted the life that his family set out for him and Bethy was the only bright light in his life. He ran from Rosemary, leaving her behind though. He never stopped thinking about her. I am so glad he came back. He was so sweet and gentle around Bethy, and he was exactly the glue she needed to be put back together.

Abbi Glines is a twisty genius. Her books are completely addicting, especially her Rosemary Beach series. As always, You Were Mine is steamy and HOT! Bethy and Tripp were such a great couple, and this ranks as one of my favorite Abbi G. books!

Next up, we have Mason’s book. I am dying to know who the love interest is!

Favorite Swoon-worthy Quote: I knew it was coming, and all I could do was hold my breath in anticipation. When his lips covered mine, reality ceased to matter. The moment was all that mattered. Tripp's hand reached down, grabbed one of my legs, and pulled it up. I wrapped it around his waist as he moved his leg in tighter between my thighs. His mouth opened over mine, and I gave him what he was asking for. The taste of tonight's champagne assaulted me as his tongue slid over mine slowly, as if he was trying to savor me.
