Oh my goodness this book was so hilarious and a great escape
from some of the more serious books that I’ve been reading.
Harper was such a funny heroine. At first glance, she seems
like a total stuck up, preppy girl, but she was so much more. She was
definitely a southern belle and she had a lot of sass to her. I liked her
determination to be the best paladin to the one guy who rides her very last
nerve. She was a kickass assassin slash debutante.
David, the hero, was actually the farthest thing that I usually
adore in a guy but I loved him all the more. He was a hipster with the skinny
jeans and Converse shoes but he was funny, sweet, and totally adorable. He made
the top of my list of my favorite good boys.
The plot was twisty and unique to me since Harper was the
badass chick and David was the dude who needed protection from the bad baddies.
The writing was everything I loved about her Hex Hall series, so light and fun.
Being in Harper’s head was so entertaining! I loved the initial animosity between
Harper and David and the subsequent falling for each other. They were a perfect
match.
With the surprise ending, I am so excited for book 2, Miss
Mayhem! And isn’t the cover the best?!
Favorite Swoon-worthy Quote: I was so stunned that it hardly even registered that he was kissing me
until…oh. Oh. The kiss didn’t make my
stomach flutter; it made my skin sing. It made me raise myself up on tiptoes so
I could kiss him back harder. It made me want to kiss him anytime, anyplace,
even if we were in the middle of Main Street.
Rating: 5/5 Tar Heels!
