Review: One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

One Week Girlfriend by: Monica Murphy

**Mature situations and sexual content - recommended for ages 17+**

Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

Me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

Forever.

This NA trend is rapidly growing, and I was not planning on reviewing any on my blog. Alas, I read and enjoy too many NA books, so it just makes sense to start reviewing them.

On the outside, Drew seems like he has a perfect life. He is the quarterback for the local college, and he has extraordinary good looks. But when Drew needs Fable to become his temporary girlfriend while he visits his dysfunctional family, she is hesitant to say yes. Despite her hesitancy, she agrees since she needs the money. When they arrive to his parents house, Fable quickly realizes that there is more to Drew Callahan and his family, and she is determined to figure out his secret. All she wants is to show Drew that someone can be there for him forever, no matter what.

Fable is a very strong girl. She has had to take care of herself and her brother for as long as she can remember since her mother could care less about their wellbeing. She works very hard and doesn’t take anything for granted. She doesn’t take crap from anyone, despite the fact Drew pushes her away. She had a great sense of humor and is just plain old very sweet and kind.

Drew is completely wonderful. He is a broken, broken man. But he is so dang adorable. He is gorgeous and sweet, and he has a heart of gold. Even after everything that he has been through, he still finds it in him to love fully. It’s pretty awe-inspiring. He is very protective, which is a very sexy trait in a man. To say the least, I was hooked on Drew, and he quickly became one of my new book boyfriends.

I love Fable’s brother Owen. He is a typical 14 year old boy, thinking he’s invincible and all. He loves Fable very much. I am not sure if I have hated a character as much as I hate Adele. She is a monster and just ughhhhh. She is a sick, twisted person who I only hope many bad things come her way.

This is a very character driven book. I really got to know Fable and Drew superbly well, and I immediately missed them once the book was over. I knew Drew’s big secret pretty early on, but that did not take away from the enjoyment of the book. I liked having both Drew and Fable’s POV. It added to my appreciation and enjoyment of the novel. The romance was oh so dang perfect. They may have been pretending to be in a relationship, but oh did they have some sexual chemistry. They had some very sexy scenes. :) But beyond their chemistry, they had a very deep understanding of each other. Fable accepted everything about Drew, all of his skeletons and demons. It was exactly what Drew needed in his life.

This was by far one of the best NA series I’ve ever read. Once I was in this world, I never wanted to leave. I am participating in the release date launch for Second Chance Boyfriend, and let me tell you, it gets even steamier and more amazing in the next installment!

Favorite Swoon-worthy Quote: Damn, I want to kiss her again, so I do. This time, she slips her hand around the back of my head and keeps me there so I can’t escape. And I don’t want to. Her fingers thread through my hair, stroking me as our lips connect again and again. Her touch feels so good. A little moan escapes me and I swipe at her upper lip with my tongue, savoring her sticky sweet taste. She parts her lips, opening herself to me and I take full advantage.
