Top Ten Tuesday (21): Top Ten Favorite Covers

Top Ten Tuesday (21): Top Ten Favorite Covers
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. For more information and a list of past and future topics, go here.

1.     Something Strange and Lovely series by: Susan Dennard – The colors and the dresses and the darkness are just about the best covers I have ever seen!
2.     The Selection series by: Kiera Cass – Again, the same reason as above. The dresses are so pretty!
3.     Black City by: Elizabeth Richards – It’s so cool how it seems like crystal breaking. The colors are breathtaking.
4.     Starcrossed series by: Josephine Angelini – Ah these covers are so beautiful with the dresses and the wind and the colors all blending together.
5.     Mara Dyer series by: Michelle Hodkin – These have always been a top favorite of mine, with really good reason. Just look! :)
6.     Hourglass series by: Myra McEntire – These covers are trippy and make me look twice whenever I see them, which is clearly the purpose of magnificent covers.
7.     Any Cassandra Clare book – I mean duh. Whoever designs these covers are pure genius.

8.     Hush, Hush series by: Becca Fitzpatrick – I totally get the angel vibe from the covers and the black and white works perfectly.
9.     The Chaos of Stars by: Kiersten White – This book hasn’t even released yet but I know it’ll be great, partly because of the amazing cover it has!
10. Of Poseidon series by: Anna Banks – The typography is about the coolest I have ever seen and they accurately describe the premise of the book.

  8. I am in love with Of Triton's cover, which is surprising, since I disliked Of Poseidon's. I love the dress on the model in the Selection (even if the pose is a little weird). Nice list! :)

  9. I love the covers of The Selection, Starcrossed and Cass Clare's books. I like the cover of The Selection a lot more than the cover of The Elite, though.. :)

  13. You and I share so many favorite covers, although I could never narrow it down so well. I am such a cover whore, to the point where I will even buy a shitty book if I love the cover.

  14. I love these covers, too. A number of them I don't actually like the books, but I love the covers. The covers for Of Poseidon and Of Triton are so pretty, and I love those blues together. And the Hourglass series! Love those!

  17. Yay, a book cover list! I love a good book cover design. I notice that in many of your favorites the typography is really nice, for example in Something Strange and Deadly. I also agree with you about the Mara Dyer covers!. The Chaos of Stars is one I haven't seen before, it's very beautiful.

Among my cover favourites are the Clockwork Century books by Cherie Priest, especially Boneshaker. I love the illustrations as well as the overall design.

This week I wrote about my favourite book to movie adaptations:

  21. Right now, I'm really loving the cover for The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I think the simplicity of it really makes it stand out, and yet when you look closer there's actually a whole lot going on.
